We have completed PILAT (Program in Language Acquisitioin Techniques) and have new tools to help us learn the village language (Silozi) once we get to Namibia. Silozi is not a common language that we can go to language school for or that we can learn on Rosetta Stone. So, we need all the help we can get!
The first weekend that we were here we visited the Garden of the Gods where we saw beautiful red rock formations. It the picture below, I was momentarily taller than Travis. Good thing my feet did not slip!
We also visited the Cliff Dwellings where we experienced the small places that people lived in. We BOTH had to bend down in some areas of the house and doorways.
We have participated in several great hikes. We tend to get up early (5:15am) to head out to the trails before training starts. Below are some of the rewards for early and later evening hikes.
The last couple of pictures are at the Reservoir at sunrise. The reflection is BEAUTIFUL!
We are now in SPLICE (Spiritual, Personal, Lifestyles, Interpersonal, Cultural, Endurance, Enjoyment) where we are learning to dig deep into our interpersonal self as well as our relationships. What you know about yourself you can change. What you do not know controls you. Yep, a little heavy but necessary. As we head into the stress of being in the field we need to take all the knowledge and information that we can so that we can continue to serve Christ with a smile, as we have been called to do.
